Strong finishes and great racing in last round of the Super One Championship for Sandy

28/29 September 2013

Sandy went into the last round of the Super One Minimax Championship in 7th place and just two points ahead of the next closest driver in the competition. He qualified 3rd in group one but the track improved for the second group and that gave him starting position of P8 for his two heats. Good strong finishing positions of 6th and 9th in what were really difficult defensive heats gave Sandy P10 for final one.

The racing really opened up after the decision was taken to penalise drivers who excessively blocked and defended, this lead to exciting racing to compete in and for the spectators to watch. Sandy managed to lead final one for a short time before eventually finishing 7th.

Final two was equally as good to watch with drivers changing positions all the way through the race. Sandy raced with the front runners from start to finish and managed to get up to third before finishing 6th. This was another superb and consistent drive earning Sandy a well deserved 7th overall in the British Super One Championship in his first year in Minimax, finishing nine points clear of the next closest driver.

Sandy: “I am really happy with my 7th place finish overall in my first year in Minimax. I am now looking forward to the challenge of moving up to Junior Max and working hard to achieve more good results. Big thanks to Jamie and Steve and all the team at RL Racing Department. Also a big thank you to my sponsors and all team at Arden.”
