Fantastic fastest laps for Sandy in Junior Max at PFi

Due to other commitments Sandy could only manage to travel down to PFI for the race day on the Sunday and after two weekends off from karting he was eager to get out on track again.
 
It was straight into the three lap warm up on a very cold track, this went really well with Sandy posting 5th fastest time in the group.
It was pole for the first heat, after a good start Sandy lead until lap 5 where kart 27 passed him at the end of the straight, Sandy stuck with kart 27 with them both racing really well. Sandy tried many times on the last lap to try and get past kart 27 but there was no way through. It looked as if Sandy was on for a tremendous 2nd place finish until but with two corners to go the closely following kart hit Sandy wide across the grass dropping him to 4th.
Sandy started from P28 on the grid for his second heat and after a good start and some nice passing, he drove brilliantly setting the fastest lap of 59.36 seconds in this action packed heat as he worked his way up to reach 6th at one point before eventually finishing in 9th position.
 
Two strong heat finishes gave Sandy a starting position of P8 for the final and again he had a really good start, showing excellent pace he quickly worked his way up to fourth position. This would turn out to be a great race through out with kart 1 for third place. Sandy eventually managed to make a move on kart 1 at the first hairpin on the 2nd last lap but kart 1 quickly regained third on the next corner. Sandy went into the last lap in a strong 4th position and with the leading karts defending Sandy had to tuck in tight behind them but the kart following him took to the grass on the inside of the 2nd last corner to try and squeeze past but he slid into Sandy forcing him wide and losing out to the following karts to finish 8th.
