"Continuing my relationship with Thorntons is hugely important for me,” Mitchell, a member of the prestigious British Racing Drivers’ Club Rising Star scheme, said.
“The company has backed me since I competed in the MSA Formula Championship, and continued through my two years in the British GT Championship.
Having the support of a major legal firm and estate agent — which has its headquarters in Dundee, but has offices across the while of Scotland — is a real boost to me.
I have no doubts they’ll help steer me to a successful debut season in the ultra-competitive Blancpain GT championship.
“Stepping up to what is the premier European endurance championship in a GT3 Lamborghini signals my intention to make it to the very top in sportscars. With Thorntons supporting me, I’m confident we can deliver winning results.”
The young gun will share his car with 23-year-old Italian Michele Beretta and 20-year-old Croatian Martin Kodric. The trio will contest the new, ultra-competitive Blancpain Silver Cup Junior Pro Class when the season starts this weekend at Monza, in Italy, on April 21/22.
And the ongoing Partnership with Mitchell was welcomed by Craig Nicol, managing partner at Thorntons.

“Thorntons is delighted to continue to support Sandy has he moves up to the Blancpain GT Series,” Nicol said. “Sandy is an extremely talented and committed young sportsman and we are proud to be associated with him.
“As a firm, we are passionate about recognising success, and Sandy’s achievements are a credit to the years of hard work he has put in. We’re sure he will continue to do great things this season. We wish him, Michele and Martin well.”
Mitchell already has two successful sportscar seasons under his belt racing a McLaren in the British GT4 Championship, where he became the youngest-ever race winner, aged just 16 years.
Now he and Thorntons are stepping up their combined presence in motorsport by tackling the Blancpain GT Series.
The talented young Scot will drive a Barwell Motorsport-prepared Black Bull Lamborghini Huracan GT3.
Mitchell will make his 24-hours debut when he contests the Blancpain GT’s Blue Riband race, the Spa 24Hours, at the end of July. The championship also visits Silverstone, Paul Ricard and Barcelona.
