Partnership with Thorntons Solicitors extended
June 16th, 2021
Scots endurance racer and British GT champion, Sandy Mitchell, has extended his sporting partnership with one of Scotland’s largest and most respected full-service legal and property firms, Thorntons. Mitchell, the 21-year-old from Forfar, has been supported by the Dundee-headquartered company for seven years.
“Thorntons has been a supporter of my racing career since I entered Formula 4 in 2015. Their backing continued when I graduated into sportscars the following season, and I’m delighted now to have been able to extend that partnership into the defence this year of my British GT title,” explained Sandy, who is again piloting his Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo, prepared by Barwell Motorsport, in the 2021 championship.
“It has always been important to me to attract the support of major companies in Dundee and Angus, and Thorntons — which has its company HQ in the city, plus offices at 11 locations across Scotland — is certainly one of those. To be able to further extend our partnership for 2021 is fantastic. I’m delighted to carry the Thorntons branding prominently on my race helmet, and this year the logo will again also be on my racesuit and the Huracan,” continued Sandy, a factory driver with Lamborghini, in addition to being a member of the British Racing Drivers’ Club’s elite SuperStars programme.
Mitchell’s extended partnership with Thorntons — which has offices across Dundee, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Angus, Fife and Perth, plus 56 partners supported by over 450 colleagues — was welcomed by Colin Graham, Thorntons Chair.
“We are thrilled to continue our partnership with Sandy Mitchell,” Graham said. “He is an inspiration to many, including the communities in which we operate, and we’re proud to pledge our sponsorship once again. We wish Sandy the very best of luck for the season ahead.”
Sandy now heads to Silverstone, along with team-mate Adam Balon, for the British GT Championship’s Blue Riband event, the Silverstone 500, on June 26/27.
