British Champion Sandy, is determined to maintain momentum as he heads to Donington with Lamborghini and Black Bull. Sandy is determined to build on the momentum achieved at Silverstone when he heads to Donington Park for the latest round of the championship this weekend (July 10/11).

He scored maximum points last time out after dramatically finishing second at the iconic Northamptonshire circuit. But by being the first British GT Championship-registered car to take the chequered flag in the three-hour Silverstone 500, he crucially took most points on offer. Now he heads to Donington in Leicestershire targeting his first official win of the season.

“After the opener at Brands Hatch, this is our second two-hour race of the year,” explained Sandy, who will again be partnered by team-mate Adam Balon in the No 1 Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo, prepared by Barwell Motorsport.

“Finishing second on the track at Silverstone, but scoring maximum championship points really kickstarted our season. Donington gives Adam and I, plus the Barwell guys another terrific challenge for the weekend, but it’s one we’re up for. Everyone in the team is determined to build on the Silverstone success and further strengthen our championship push,” he continued, personally backed by Huntly-based Black Bull Scotch Whisky, and who heads to Donington only 12 points off the championship lead, currently held by the No63 sister Barwell car.

“It’s great to have the inter-team rivalry,” the Lamborghini factory driver, in addition to being a member of the British Racing Drivers’ Club’s elite SuperStars programme, said, “but we know there are a number of other GT3 cars all capable of winning this weekend. Donington’s a fast circuit and it suits the Lamborghini. Racing down through the Craner Curves, one of the most exhilarating sections of track anywhere in Europe, is always a blast."

"The circuit will allow us to really maximise the strengths of the car, the team and our driver pairing. But like every race, we know it’s going to be tough. We also have a 20-second success penalty after our Silverstone result, which we obviously need to factor in. But we’ve shown over the opening two races of the season exactly how strong our package is, and we’re heading to Donington determined to get our first win of the season.”
