Endurance racer Sandy will start from pole position in the Spa 24-Hour Gold Cup with Black Bull, Barwell and Lamboghini.

The former British GT champ will start tomorrow’s (Sat) gruelling TotalEnergies 24 Hours of Spa at the iconic Belgian circuit from pole position in the inaugural Gold Cup. The 22-year-old from Forfar is bidding for his fifth successive podium finish and third class victory in five years.

Sandy will tackle the 24-hour race in his No77 Lamborghini Huracan Evo GT3, prepared by Barwell Motorsport, and backed by Huntly-based Black Bull Scotch Whisky and Amstutz Produkte.
“It’s a fantastic way to start the weekend by bagging pole position for the inaugural Gold Cup class,” Sandy, who shares the #77 car with England’s Alex MacDowall and Sam De Haan, plus Oman racer Ahmad Al Harthy, said.

“All four of us delivered excellent times in qualifying and it sets us up perfectly to be able to battle at the front of the field for the entire 24 hours.We could possibly have squeezed into the top 20 Superpole shootout if there hadn’t been so much traffic during Q3,” the Lamborghini factory driver and member of the British Racing Drivers’ Club, continued, “but we’ll certainly take pole position in our class.”
